Our Service Areas
Northeast Philadelphia is the youngest part of the city and it has many diverse neighborhoods like Fox Chase, Rockledge, Rhawnhurst, Torresdale, Parkwood, Bustleton, Somerton, Sun Valley, Krewstown and Pine Valley to name a few.
In the Northeast you’ll find neighborhoods of rowhomes, twin homes, and single homes. When planning this portion of the city a good amount of park area was preserved and used for recreational purposes. Many of the Northeast’s residents use Pennypack Park for recreation, as there are many different neighborhoods that border these parks. Many of the homes in the Northeast are built on old farmland and a few areas still feel more suburban the urban. Some landmarks around the Northeast are Franklin Mills Mall, Chickies' and Pete's restaurants, the Flyers Skate Zone, the Northeast Airport and Holy Family University, and fox chase farm.
South Philadelphia is one of the most expansive neighborhoods of Philadelphia and one that, in reality, is made up of many smaller neighborhoods bearing such names as Grays Ferry, East Oregon, Hawthorne, Marconi Plaza, Packer Park, Passyunk, Pennsport, Point Breeze, Queens Village, Tasker and many more.
The area is most famous, to visitors, for its depiction in Rocky & Invinceble which included numerous scenes filmed on location along the waterfront, in the Italian Market, in the many row homes along the numerous narrow streets of South Philadelphia. This section of philadelphia along with center city are becoming a favorite location for the movie making industry. Those native to the Philadelphia area know this section of the city is robust and full of life...much more than you'll see on TV.
South Philadelphia is also home to the most famous cheesesteak shops in the city, Geno’s & Pat’s, the Philadelphia Sports Complexes, "The Link", Citizens Bank Park & the Wachovia Center, where the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers & Sixers play. Maybe one day we'll host a championship parade there!
South Philadelphia is also one of the projected locations for a new casino, The Foxwoods.
North Philadelphia An expansive area of the city north of Center City and south of Olney-Oak Lane , North Philadelphia consists of numerous places with names like Fairmount , Hunting Park , Ludlow , Nicetown , Northern Liberties , Spring Garden , Strawberry Mansion , Temple University , Tioga and West Kensington.
This section of Philadelphia has a vast range of diverse neighborhoods and it begins at the northern edge of the center city limits. This is one of the older sections of the city. As it appears with most of the city the size of the homes in each individual neighborhood depend on the era when they were built. At the time there was a need for large homes and some of the homes have ornate detailing, such as large brownstone buildings with cherubs or gargoyles and stained glass windows.
Temple University has it’s main campus in the heart of North Philadelphia. Temple’s huge campus encompasses many city blocks.
Some of the neighborhoods of North Phila have been neglected for many years and the city government is just now starting to revitalize areas by removing entire city blocks and building new low cost homes for the residents of this area. While other areas closer to Center City have seen their property values sky rocket.
Neighborhoods like Northern Liberties, and Fishtown have seen a great revival because of their proximity to downtown. The vast improvement of these areas, over the last few years, has spilled over into the neighboring areas causing philadelphia's property values to surge over recent years and a new culture was breathed into the city. Twenty-something residents quickly moved into these areas and as a result many neighborhood bars & restaurants have felt business increase and new café’s and boutique stores have opened breathing a new life into this section of the city.
Center City The original city was small and compact centering everything it’s citizens needed. Today Philadelphia has grown to many times its original size and spread over what was previously suburban farmland. Living in today’s Philadelphia can be a wonderful experience as many of the city’s neighborhoods are seeing a renovation.
From Old city /Center city has many restaurants, shops, Hotels, and bars & pubs, to the historic district with places like Elfreth’s alley (the oldest occupied residential street in the country), Benjamin Franklin’s grave, The Liberty Bell at Independence Hall. Center City is full of history and Art Love Park, The Clothespin, as well as statues of famous residents Frank Rizzo through out. Along the eastern edge of Center city is Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River, which is a hub for fair weather entertainment, and has seen much of the downtown new construction. Much of the city’s waterfront is just now being developed with river front condos and two new casino’s Sugarhouse and Foxwoods proposed before 2009.
In the heart of Center City is where you’ll find places to visit like The Pennsylvania Convention Center, City Hall, The Constitution Center & Betsy Ross’ House, among many, many more. The Kimmel Center and The Merriam Theater are just two names of many that make up Philadelphia’s avenue of the Arts.
There is always something to do when you’re downtown!
